Over the last decade, I have developed a passion for education, specifically around the science and use of LASER Therapy. After many years in different Veterinary and Rehabilitation clinics, I joined Companion Animal Health, contributing globally to their product support, product management and clinical support roles specialising in LASER Therapy, Stance Analysis and Regenerative Therapies.
My current role encompasses my passion for education as the International Training and Education Manager focusing on bringing the latest research and evidence across the international markets. Having lectured at many universities in different countries and continents, one consistent question is asked about LASER Therapy - ”do we really understand how it works?”
The last few years I have worked with many practitioners and the most common comment I get is “I know the basics for LASER, but don’t truly understand the technical side or what else it can be used for.”
At first, I decided to try to bring more awareness of common “myths” by creating educational social media posts and setting up as “The Vet Laser Specialist,” however, I could see a need for something much more in depth, which is when I had the idea of devising an Ofqual recognised qualification.
As our industry has evolved and grown, one thing has never changed - we need to keep expanding our knowledge and continue to raise clinical standards. LASER therapy is at an exciting time where the body of research has substantially progressed over the last decade, plus our use of this treatment has equally advanced, so we are able to help many more animal patients.
LASER therapy has long been a tool in our rehabilitation kit, but have we really been using it to the best of our ability and do we truly understand how it works? One of my biggest challenges is the common misinformation about this therapy and confusing marketing ploys used, with a lack of accurate information on how it works and should be applied in clinical practice.
In the two qualifications we have developed, we cover everything from the science behind photobiomodulation, how to understand the components that make up a LASER, Clinical Application, Practical Indications, Health & Safety, Functional Anatomy, Therapeutic Handling and much more.
By teaming up with other likeminded professionals who share our passion, we have created an amazing and innovative Learning Platform that links up with K9HS Courses - K9 Therapy Hub
This provides you with high quality educational resources, dovetailing their specialist knowledge with ours, to create a unique course that is a first in the industry.
